Erica Weiner Jewellery
New York-based Erica Weiner makes the most divine vintage-inspired jewellery (or jewelry as the Americans spell it). She is a traveller and a collector, and her creations are beautifully original with an emphasis on craftsmanship and affordability. Erica designs with a sense of humour and now stocks internationally, including at Rodeo Show in Sydney’s Oxford Street where I personally came across her range. Her jewellery collection and her fan-base have grown exponentially since she began in 2005, as she has managed to fill the never-ending demand for hand-made and inexpensive vintage-inspired jewellery.
Every piece is handmade in NYC, and Erica states that it always will be. A favourite is the “All’s Well” earrings made from a set of antique wax seals. One reads ”All’s Well” and the other “We May Be Happy Yet”, both in mirrored image so the wearer can press them into a soft material such as wax or clay to leave a readable imprint. Erica leaves imperfections from the original stamps intact which adds to the antique charm of all her pieces.
Erica Weiner and co-founder Lindsay Salmon run an ethical and sustainable business, with a team of their trusted friends carrying out almost every aspect of the production in-house. About half of her jewellery materials are vintage, dead stock or re-purposed and she uses reused and 100% recyclable packaging materials.
