The iconic Bondi Beach in Sydney has become a popular location for several outdoor stunts – think recent Cancer Council Australia mock crime scene set up to warn about the risks of sun tanning or the Mardi Gras Flash Mob with over 100 dancers.

Now, the Swedish furniture giant IKEA is planning to mark the 30th birthday of BILLY bookcase by creating the world’s longest outdoor bookcase on Bondi Beach Sunday 31 January 2010 from 6am – 6pm.

Well, we can’t really blame IKEA for their choice of location at Sydney’s Bondi Beach which is a favourite among locals and tourists alike. You will see 30 BILLY bookcases snaking their way along the sand, featuring thousands of books to choose from. (more…)

Lomox Limited is an OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) technology innovation and development company in the UK. They have been awarded a grant by the Government-backed Carbon Trust to develop its OLED technology which claims to reduce energy consumption by 60% over existing light sources.

Lomox aims to lower production costs of OLED panels while increasing both the efficiency and size of panels. They plan to make flexible screens that can be taken into meetings and rolled up after use, and outdoor lighting, the first products will be for sale later this year. (more…)
