Where The Wild Things Are – The Girl Skateboard Co
Where The Wild Things Are is probably one of the most hyped films of the year. Earlier this month in the US, film-making genius Spike Jonze dropped his version of Maurice Sendak’s 1963 childrens tale on audiences. Sadly Australians have to wait until December to catch Jonzes big furry monster characters on screen but before then, you can order one of very limited edition Where The Wild Things Are skateboards by The Girl Skateboard Company.

Collaborating with a skateboard company may not appear to make sense as the film does not feature skateboarding but it’s Jonze’s long history with the sport that is the reason for the partnership. Jonze is a co-founder of Girl Skateboards; one of the most respected skate brands in the industry and broke into film making by creating skateboard films in the late 80s and early 90s.
Inevitably, the film Where The Wild Things Are, is going to become a cult classic like many of Jonzes other works so it’s up to you, whether you put the skateboard deck on the wall as decoration to remind you of the ethereal film or you bolt on your trucks and head to the local skatepark.
