Mike Horn Ranger by Wenger

South African Mike Horn is one of the world’s greatest modern adventurer-explorers and we were privileged to meet him on his remarkable yacht Pangaea (a PAN Global Adventure for Environmental Action) which took us around the majestic Sydney Harbour.

Pangaea is the result of over 22,000 hours of design time plus years of experience and marine expertise. It is built to conform to Mike Horn’s specific requirements, used for research, environmental and educational projects around the world. It is a vessel aimed to operate with the lowest possible emission and pollution – and go where other vessels can’t. It is also amazing that the entire boat could be pulled apart and recycled at any time!

The 35-metre sailing vessel sleeps 30 people and features the latest communication technology and conference facilities. It also includes BlueTec engines, solar panels, recyclable aluminium hull and trawling nets for bottles and a number of other eco-friendly sustainable features. It is built in aluminium which performs well in extreme temperatures and as the most recyclable metal, it can be recycled many times without loosing its qualities. Recycling aluminium uses only 5% of the energy required to produce it. The boat uses energy saving lightning systems and LED bulbs.

Mike Horn’s holistic view of sustainability is mirrored throughout the products his sponsors need to adhere to. For example, the Mike Horn Ranger knife from Wenger with recyclable handles and is part tool-box and part Swiss army knife with emergency tools for travel adventures. It includes 16 functions and comes in a practical case.

Thanks to Wenger, we actually have a Mike Horn Ranger valued $225 to give away to a mecho e-news subscriber. Contact Us in 25 words or less of what would be your dream adventure and your full contact address for delivery.

Now, we only wish we were a bit younger to qualify for Mike Horn’s Young Explorer Program. If you know any active 13-20-year-olds keen on going on a once-in-a-life-time adventure to explore and become environmental ambassadors – yeah you heard right, for free! He has kids from all around the world already signed up and in action but surprisingly none from Australia… yet!
