SOYA09 Winners, Qantas Spirit of Youth Awards
Big congrats to all the winners and for following their dreams! Qantas Spirit of Youth Awards (SOYA) initiative helps young Australians connect with their dreams and achieve their potential. Seven of Australia’s brightest new creative stars walked away with $10,000 in cash and flights, and a mentoring program with the internationally acclaimed creative icons that will guide their future careers.
The 21 finalists from the tens of thousands of submissions entered in SOYA this year, were presented in the Foundation Hall of the Museum of Contemporary Art. We definitely think the winners and the initiative deserve a mention. High-profile Aussie SOYA mentors present at the awards included film director and actress Rachel Ward, fashion designers Simone and Nicky Zimmermann, and internationally acclaimed music label boss Stephen Pavlovic from Modular Recordings.
Mentors will provide career support for the next year and well into the future within respective category of fashion, music, visual art, photography, industrial and object design. Mentors such as industrial designer Marc Newson, film director Rowan Woods, Gillian Armstrong and Paul Mac have provided winners with invaluable industry experience. Keep your eyes on these creative Aussie superstars!
