Sony Alpha DSLR cameras

Sony suggests that anyone can be a photographer with their new (Alpha) DSLR range. I was putting this to a test with a photo session at the Sydney Opera House across the categories of Architecture, Portrait and Food Photography using the new Sony DSLR. My above photo was selected to an exhibition outside the Playhouse in the Western Foyer of the Sydney Opera House and you can enjoy a selection of my other photos further below.

Photo tips and tricks were provided on set by Fine Arts Photographer and M Gallery Director Steve Morenos, Fashion and Portrait photographer Paul Green and Photographer Gary Heery. I still think there is an art to photography that needs a certain eye and talent to master but anyone should definitely be able to take stunning photos even though you are not a pro, so why not give it a go?

Images from the photo session captured all sides of the magnificent Sydney Opera House – the famous sails, Guillaume at Bennelong Restaurant and backstage with international singing sensation Meow Meow.

The new Sony DSLR range is aimed for the first time DSLR user with an intuitive menu system and Help Guide with explanations of shooting tips and sample photos to help understand and make full use of the camera. To combat a common barrier for first time users, the a230 is currently the world’s lightest DSLR camera weighing 450g. The a380 is equipped with a 14.2-megapixel CCD image sensor, while the a330 and a230 sport a 10.2-megapixel CCD image sensor.

All three models incorporate SteadyShot INSIDE image stabilisation, automatically countering unwanted camera shakes for blur-free pictures. Additionally, the a380 and a330 are equipped with Quick AF Live View. A great feature of the camera is also the ability to flip the screen up or down – very handy when you want take a photo from a weird angle and still want to see what you are shooting!
