Social Network movie to be banned on Facebook?
Facebook executives do not seem happy about the upcoming movie about the founding of the social network site. A scene in the movie Social Network featuring real-life people including Napster founder Sean Parker, played in the film by Justin Timberlake. It won’t censor any boobs or cocaine apparently…
Parker, who was a key figure in the early days of Facebook delivers a speech at a party where young women offer lines of cocaine from nude breasts. Whether this is made up or based on true story, we are not sure. Having said that, this is an Aaron Sorkin movie and you would expect this type of content either way. Think American comedy drama series Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip which was bold but axed after one series despite its popularity.
Hollywood Reporter says Facebook clearly wants the scene cut and have been talking to producer Scott Rudin while New York Times reports that Mark Zuckerberg has been locked in “a tense standoff with the filmmakers”. Ironically, social networks including Facebook, Twitter and blogs are now sharing these news with a simple button. Some people might say that any publicity is good publicity or are they just getting back of their own medicine? Anyhow chillax, it’s just a movie… right?
Social Network movie will be released in the US in October and for the rest of you, have a sneak peek at the trailer in the meantime. You Like?
