Earth Hour 2010, what will you do?
Once again, millions of people around the globe will join up for Earth Hour to show how lots of little actions add up to one big statement on climate change. Earth Hour 2010 is taking place Saturday 27 March 2010 at 8.30pm, and we are showing our support by spreading the word and turning the lights off plus continuing the buzz afterwards. What will you do for Earth Hour? Here are a few tips…
For fellow Sydney-siders; The Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge will be plunging into darkness, and the official Earth Hour charity event will be held on Goat Island with front row view of when the Harbour Bridge lights go out. Merivale has commited almost all of its restaurants; Est, Uccello, and Mad Cow, to name a few, switching off on Saturday night for candlelit dinners. Ivy, Pool Club, The Establishment and Slip Inn will all be switching off as well. The Falconer, Billy Kwong and Rockpool will also be holding special events.
If you rather kick back with friends, family and neighbours to enjoy the lights out – why not organise a block party filled with lanterns – the only limit, is your creativity hey! To help track participants, register on the official Earth Hour website plus spread the word via Facebook and Twitter.
This year, mecho will continue the buzz even afterwards to emphasise the long-term goals, not just hype. We have invited WWF Jennifer Croes – who is running Earth Hour for Australia – as one of our April guest bloggers. Stay tuned next week and your chance to interact with an admirable and inspiring soul. Catch you after dark!
