Up-Coffee table by Gauther Poulain

New and upcoming Belgian industrial designer, Gauthier Poulain, presented his latest collection during Milan Design Week 2009. A lot of his work seems to have a soft flow of futuristic design mixed with traditional hand craft and well-selected materials. The Up-Coffee is a piece of luxury designer furniture he created in his latest collection.

It is a floating board with integrated storage space that combines functionality and smoothness of shapes with rounded edge wood on contrasting thin curved metal legs. With its strong and contemporary look plus the clever storage solution it makes a great coffee table to store books and magazines. We can also see this being placed in reception waiting areas in offices around the world.

The table design follows a natural fit with his Ruban chairs which have a similar combination of smooth wood finishes with solid metal frames. Nice match!
