We have been running across town in a fruitless quest to help a friend to find the perfect coffee table, we started to dream up this furniture for a bachelor pad. Born in the 80′s era of arcade games as an eternal geek gone sophisticated city dweller, it would be great to bring back some of this magic to his now adult living room of Space Invaders, Donkey Kong and Pac-Man. The furniture designers at Surface Tension has brought this type of idea to life with modern design style and some new technology.

Available in sophisticated wood and glossy finishes, the arcade game table cleverly conceals the playground in a stylish way with a pull-out arcade joystick, an audio extension of an iTunes streaming music setup, online browsing on its built-in screen via an integrated Shuttle PC system (Dual core CPU, 2GB RAM, 160GB HDD, Windows XP Pro). All this fusion of multi-functionality and design of course comes at a cost. Hence, we continue to dream on about this retro-cool coffee table as we doubt this is an affordable option for our friend, at a price from $6100 Aussie dollars (£2999). It would probably also make a perfect coffee table for a funky open plan office, think break out rooms and reception areas…
