Dutch homeware brand Royal VKB of bv Koninklijke van Kempen & Begeer was founded in 1789 in The Netherlands. With a combination of traditional craftsmanship, they seem to constantly re-innovate themselves by using new techniques to create stylish and functional products. We all agree that good design should have awareness of how people live and deal with specific everyday situations. These guys know their stuff and also realise that people does not suddenly change lifestyle, but may gradually slip into a new one.

Pictured above, the compact and well-designed Royal VKB Herb Garden is a tub that allows for your favourite herbs to be arranged together in one spot including integrated pocket scissors. The simple Dutch design stands alone for easy access and can be effortlessly moved to position herbs in or out of sunlight as necessary. Available in grey or white, it is made from easy to clean melamine. This is a must-have for all foodies, we are already thinking fresh coriander for infused Thai soup or Basil for the Bolognese… Nom nom nom!

The Royal VKB Mood Light designed by Dutch designer Jan Hoekstra fits a tea light. It has already been recognised worldwide with several international design awards,such as the Design Plus award, Grand Prix Table & Cadeau 2009 and Reddotdesign award. It creates a a warm ambiance and as the name suggest, set the mood. Made from soft, flexible and durable silicone, it is heat and flame resistant plus protects from wind if placed outdoor.
