MouthOff is a real-time sound reactive entertainment application, it is a cartoon mouth that you hold in front of your real mouth and, when you speak, it moves as though it was yours. Well, unless you live in a hut half-way up a mountain or are dead you will likely have noticed rather a lot of hype surrounding iPhone applications at the moment. For me, not being the kind of person who really needs a portable spirit level or an additional meter to tell me how much battery is left – yes someone has really developed one of those – most of it has washed straight over me. Recently though I came across MouthOff, an awesome effort from ustwo – the studio of dreams, a neat creative design studio split between the UK and Sweden.

Probably the best way to get an idea of what the hell I’m actually on about is to head on over to the MouthOff website to see one of the many user-generated submissions of this thing in action – social participation being a great by-product of the application. If humorous and anti-productive – albeit moral boosting – products are your thing then this is for you.

There are loads of mouths to choose from including pirates and what can only be described as skinless zombies and most recent Signature Collection with new (free!) mouths created by some of the globes leading illustrators including Jon Burgerman, PYKY and Mister Bowlegs.
