Kinect and Xbox Slim

Do you remember a while back when I told you about the spiffy new Project Natal Microsoft was working on? Well it’s all ready to go and it’s brand new name is Kinect.

The Xbox 360 Slim gaming system is pretty much the same piece of kit as explained earlier, infra red, motion sensors, camera, maps numerous points of interest on the body focusing mainly on your face and so on, but now it’s a snazzy black to go with the new 250GB storage. It is however lacking a built-in Blu-ray player to make it the ultimate “entertainment hub”.

Capturing natural human movements with no need to hold any remotes or controllers like Wii or PS3, new games include; Your Shape which is a cardio and exercise game, Kinect Sports is self explanatory, Kinect Joyride has you piloting a go cart and Dance Central sends you out into the wilds of Africa to hunt big game – no it’s a dance game, what did you expect with a title like that?

Kinect has a dedicated “aux” input on the new 250 GB Xbox 360 which serves as an input and power supply. To use the Kinect with the Xbox 360 Original will require a USB port and separate power supply.

Xbox officially announced Kinect for Xbox 360 – coming November 2010 at recent E3 expo. View the highlights from the E3 Media Briefing of how it may change the way you play games, experience multimedia content and interact with friends.

The Xbox 360 has gone on a much needed diet. The new slimmer unit will run you the same price as the older, bulkier model but has the luxury of being about the same weight… wait what? How does a smaller design weigh the same as the old one?

Anyway, the Xbox 360 “Original” as it is now being called will only be sold until supplies run out. New features include WiFi 802.11n, touch sensitive face buttons, five USB ports, an external hard drive, a proprietary port for the new Kinect system and it is apparently less noisy then the previous model because the interior has one fan instead of two.

If this new model has solved the previous model’s cooling issues then we could see a lot of happy Xbox gamers in the near future.
