I ♥ Spotify

I heart Spotify! The future of music has arrived… for free. If you haven’t already heard of this audio application then reading this review may just be a Princess Diana moment. You will look back in years to come and remember exactly where you were when you first glimpsed the future… because to try and do Spotify justice it is simply, the future.

Recently, I’ll admit, I’ve become bored of music and that coming from a long time music extremist is really saying something. Then, Spotify. It has well and truly re-invigorated my musical fervour. Boasting a humongous playlist Spotify is allegedly the largest in the world – they recently added 30,000 new tracks in a single day – but what makes it truly amazing, it’s legal and FREE!

There is already a subscription version but I can’t say that I’ve come across any reason yet to pay for it. Apparently there are more songs available and there are no adverts, but in the time that I’ve been using it, I’ve not yet been unable to find a single song, artist or album I’ve searched for (I’ve been enthusiastically trying to beat it) and I have only heard a couple of ads. For free, I can live with that.

What of this ‘It’s the future’ claim though? Well, the music industry is changing and the era of CD shopping, commercial radio stations and even downloading is over. The future holds subscription based services like Spotify where, for a small fee, you will have access to almost every song ever released, all the time and advert free.

Download Spotify and give it a go… It might just be life changing.

Notes from mecho team:
Spotify is currently only available as a beta in Finland, France, Germany, The United Kingdom, Italy, Norway, Spain and Sweden. Who knows, if demand is high, hopefully this may trigger action to be done to make this available in Australia?
