Johnnie Walker limited edition Red and Black label bottles
The Johnnie Walker Striding Man has over hundred years become an international trademark and even pop culture icon. We are quite amazed how it started in 1908 just as a rough sketch on the back of a menu at a local café.
Nearly 90 years after John Walker began selling blended Scotch in his grocery shop and as whisky grew popular; his grandsons George and Alexander wanted to set the brand apart from competitors. George and his London staff organised a competition but none of the artwork struck the right chord. Eventually, Tom Browne, a noted cartoonist and humorist was asked to lunch with Lord Stevenson, one of Walker’s directors, and some of his staff. It was then that Browne drew on the back of a lunch menu, the now world famous Striding Man figure. In 1910, the slogan `Born 1820 – still going strong’ were trademarked.
A limited edition gift box celebrating the illustration of the Striding Man of Johnnie Walker Black and Red labels have launched this season to get into the right spirit. Pardon the pun. All the bottles are numbered, perfect as collector’s item or appreciated Christmas gift for the whisky lover.
Currently available in an exclusive black and gold limited edition tin, Johnnie Walker Black Label is a deluxe blended Scotch Whisky. It uses forty of the finest single malts including the smokier whiskies of Western Scotland for a complex flavour.
Johnnie Walker Red Label is a younger Scotch Whisky blend with a fresh and distinctive aroma. The layers of flavour boast sweet vanilla with a hint of spice. They say it is perfect for mixing or matching with a Christmas pudding and who are we to argue. Is it time for a toast now?
