LoftCube by Werner Aisslinger

Anyone else out there secretly wish to have their very own rooftop with 360 degrees breathtaking views? Perhaps I have been watching too many cheesy movies, enjoyed too many rooftop parties or spent too much time gazing out of windows from high-rise hotel rooms in a dreamy way… I even sometimes look up at tall buildings when walking down the streets in different cities, wondering how much empty real estate exist and imagine how it would be to live on top!

Well, it seems I’m not the only one with a head among the clouds, the LoftCube is a proposed way to take back these empty spaces in style. The German design team Werner Aisslinger has drawn inspiration form Japanese architecture of compact and all-in-one design, the LoftCube has a number of space saving strategies and is sufficiently self-contained. It can be picked up and put on top of a building by crane.

Technically, like any portable prefabricated building, these can end up on any amazing location in the world. I reckon the LoftCube is a brilliant creative use of space to occupy unused rooftops for urban living in various cities. Check this video out and see you at the rooftop!
