IKEA sofas at Paris métro
Earlier this week, IKEA invited users to test out two couch models in four Paris métro stations; St Lazare, Champs Elysées Clémenceau, Concorde and Opéra. Named after the Swedish towns of Ektorp and Karlstad, the models were set out in pairs, divided by a lamp in front of large ad in the backdrop to create an inviting home feel in a public space.
The IKEA sofas do look pretty comfortable but wonder how much security was required to avoid the furniture getting vandalised? A pretty clever use of advertising space to say the least. Also, wonder if they would dare to do a similar campaign at Sydney’s Cityrail stations or if it would have the same connotations…?
IKEA has previously done similar campaigns along the Japan tram line to Kobe.
