Volvo S60

Volvo and sexy? These are not two words that usually gel together in a conversation about Volvo cars however the Swedish giant is working hard on their image. They have recently been running a “naughty” web campaign for the stylish all new-2011 Volvo S60 sedan. To be honest, the campaign didn’t set our engines on fire but having said that, the car is a very impressive beast with plenty of brains and power as well as pleasant surprises.

The Volvo S60 car premiered at the Geneva Motor Show in March and the sportier look breaks from the boxy design with the tagline – “S60 is sculptered to move you” – aimed at the driver both physically and emotionally. The interior shows off the simplicity and high quality of Scandinavian design tradition. The full list of advanced technology is actually making us feel a bit overwhelmed but just to mention a few of the highlights; it has the world’s first Pedestrian Detection system to avoid collision with a pedestrian at up to 35km per hour, the car automatically brakes if the driver fails to react in time. City Safety also prevents low speed rear-end crashes with automatic brakes when the vehicle in front slows down or stops. We’ll like to get behind the wheels later this year to experience what they promise to deliver on.

Volvo prime reputation is being a safe car, and that’s an image they are not likely to get rid of. Whilst they are working hard on creating a sexy image, probably they should just try less and let the features speak for themselves. After all, the brains and power of the S60 are rather attractive. Instead of sharing a teaser video clip from the naughty campaign, we quite enjoy the video produced end of last year of the remarkable blind Turkish artist Esref Armagan who was invited to Volvo Car Corporation in Sweden to paint the new S60 from just touching the exterior.
