Toyota leads the green revolution with another innovative urban car, the iQ. It is an eco-friendly, super-mini vehicle at 3 metres length. This is actually a 4 seater car that fits 3 adults and one child! Yes, sounds like they have taken the stats of 1.5 kids literally to provide the driver with more leg room. There is no boot space so you will need to dump the back passengers, we would say this is the ideal city car for the urban dwellers, singles or DINKs. Also, imagine the increased chances of finding street parking!

The exterior has a cheeky personality and character which is a breath of fresh air for Toyota. The interior is arguable with features of floating V centre console, asymmetric dashboard, slim seat-backs and storage pockets throughout the cabin. Amazingly, this tiny city car has some real IQ beyond the name with the smart ‘Ecometre’ which tells the driver the efficiency by monitoring acceleration and gear shift intervals. Powered by a VVTi 1.0 litre petrol engine, in a recent road test the Toyota iQ car did impressive 800 kms on a single fuel tank.

The Toyota iQ scored 5 stars for safety at recent Euro NCAP safety test and was short-listed Top 3 finalist in World Car Awards 2009 plus TopGear Small Car 2008. Already available in the US and Europe, we hope this little rebel arrives to Australian cities soon even though there is no confirmation yet.
