Take a quick glance at the 2009 all-new Volkswagen VW Golf VI and you could mistaken it for the older Golf small car model. However, a closer look at next 6th generation model reveals a sporty wide body stance, new high gloss radiator grill, re-designed door mirrors, wider headlights and tail lights.

Shaped up with a more athletic look, the VW Golf VI has improved quality, aerodynamics and performance over the previous trouble plagued model (issues like build quality, production cost and delivery). Get better fuel economy with new petrol and diesel engine options plus 6-speed manual or 7-speed dual clutch transmission (DSG).

The VW Golf VI interior welcomes new trip computer, instrumental panel, multifunctional steering wheel, entertainment and improved soundproofing materials for a quieter ride. It’s also packed with safety gear including ESP, ABS and 7 air bags, awarded 5-star ANCAP Safety rating. New technology options like Park Assist parallel parking system with front and rear camera assist to squeeze into tight parking spots.

Three models will be available in Australia, the 90TSI Trendline (90kW) and 118TSI Comfortline (118kw) is both powered by 1.4 litre petrol TSI engine. The 2.0 litre TDI diesel with 103kW powers the 103TDI Comfortline. Keep your eyes peeled for the much anticipated big brother, the turbocharged VW Golf GTI in 2010.
