Amazon Kindle 2 and Kindle DX Digital eBook Reader
Next time you curl up with a new book, you could be reading it on the the Amazon Kindle 2. What’s that? Well, without making it sound complicated, it is a next generation digital book reader. Features include 6″ diagonal e-ink electronic paper display, 16 shades of grey, qwerty keyboard plus in-built dictionary and stereo speakers. The ultra slim white design looks similar to the Apple iPod.
The 290 gram Amazon Kindle 2 digital book reader holds over 1,500 titles on its 2GB internal storage with wireless 3G internet access to Kindle e-store and Wikipedia. However, we are not too sure about the read-to-me function which has a creepy robotic voice, it might kill the mood and imagination.
We like the book sample feature which allows you to download and read the first chapter for free. If you like what you read, you can simply buy and download it. The Amazon Kindle store currently has over 230,000 book titles including New York Times Best Sellers list and author Stephen King will also exclusively release a new horror novel “Ur”.
Books are quite personal and we don’t think this will be the end of books but we can see the convenience of Kindle too. Will digital e-books be the future or do you prefer to stick to the comfort of the paper back?
May 09 Update: New model, Kindle DX features a larger 9.7″ LCD screen, store up to 3500 e-books, auto rotating display, built-in pdf reader and longer battery life.

Im in 2 minds about this kind of thing. Eventually I do see myself getting an electronic reader as they enable you to carry around a whole library in a neat little pacakage. The carbon footprint of distibuting a book electronically is also considerably smaller than printing an actual paperback. The only thing is I really do love paper and there is no way these gizmos will look as good on your bookshelf.

Yeah, I love a wall or room filled with books but I agree with you on the other points too….. dilemma dilemma
