Angelique Houtkamp
Dutch tattoo artist Angelique Houtkamp is an inspirational force within contemporary art and will be among the international artists on display at upcoming Art Melbourne 2010.
We have managed to get a small mecho Q&A with Angelique and hope you enjoy her work – picture classic old school tattoos mixed with mythological dreams, eclectic beauty and haunting Hollywood romance with a dash of humour.
At age 30, Angelique got her foot in the door of a tattoo parlor where she discovered her passion of drawing and working in the old timey sailor style. At tattoo conventions, she started selling her paintings as reproductions. Australian gallery Outré started selling her prints and a worldwide success took off. Nowadays, she spends most of her time painting, but still tattooing a bit as well.
