Dress Code Collection by Akira Isogawa and Toshi Ueno
We are excited about the collaboration between two Australian designers, fashion designer Akira Isogawa and furniture designer Toshi Ueno. With their Japanese heritage and unique talents, they have created Dress Code. This is a piece of multi-functional furniture; it can be a side table, shelving system, stool or simply a beautiful art decor. Made from antique recycled woods such as rosewood, silver ash or Tasmanian oak. It was on display earlier at this year at Tokyo Designers Week 2008
Dress Code minimalist design features Akira’s soft floating kimono pattern inspired by the dress of a Geisha, layered on Toshi’s contradictory timber grid-work of clean-cut lines. Toshi drew his inspiration from Japanese folklore; “Shining Prince” Hikaru Genji, a casanova of his day and famous for his many romantic adventures. By using different symbols for each mistress and embossing them on incense boxes, they have been fleshed out to create three-dimensional pieces.
These limited edition pieces are available in 3 different designs; Tshubaki, Kiku and Botan. Art decor simply beautiful to sit on!
