2010 Vans Bowl-A-Rama, Bondi Beach
The infamous shores of Bondi Beach will soon play host to the 6th Vans Bowl-A-Rama, the biggest concrete event in the Southern Hemisphere. It is also the biggest week of festivities to hit Bondi leading up to the Saturday competition!
Boasting a rumoured line of some of the most legendary skateboarders of our time including: Bucky Lasek, Omar Hassan, Steve Caballero, Christian Hosoi, Bob Burnquist, Rune Glifberg, Pat Ngoho, Otavio Neto, Jackson Pilz, Juergen Horrwarth, Renton Miller and Corbin Harris; The week of celebrations kicks off with the official Vans Bowl-A-Rama opening party hosted at Bondi’s Beach Road Hotel on Wednesday 17 February. With the perfect terrain to cater to versatile skaters from all over the world, combined with the calibre of riders expected on the day and a total prize pot of US $40,000 and the new Bowl-A-Rama festival week, “skate fans and the general public alike will experience the most mind blowing action of the year! Oh, and keep an eye out for a secret appearance by one of the best skaters’ of all time – think Tony!” teases Chad.
“Bowl-A-Rama and all of the umbrella events leading up to the Saturday comp, have always been so much fun amongst professional skaters, families and the general public alike” Comments Bowl-A-Rama Director Chad Ford. “This year, Bowl-A-Rama is all about embracing the rising tide of skateboarding amongst Australians and celebrating this with a week of amazing sponsor parties and festivities,” he adds.
The Bowl-A-Rama festival will kick off on Wednesday 17 February 2010 and the killer skate action will commence 11am Saturday 20 February 2010. With the rain in Sydney lately, we hope the weather will stay clear. If so, don’t forget your sun-block and hat. This is an alcohol free event and there will be bag searches.
Activision’s Tony Hawk Ride is also getting Davo and Teagues on board this year to get Flat-A-rama, it is an over 18 event held at Bondi Open Air Cinema on Friday 10 February from 6.30pm. It is said to be more about the fun involved with having a skate with your friends than the limits of a trick comp. There will be a special film screening as well as the launch of the new Tony Hawk Ride game on the big screen and a competition with the game.
