2010 Trend Forecasts – Fashion, Interior and Gadgets

We don’t usually feature celebrities however we have picked out three women from the fame spotlight as 2009 style icons and trendsetters. We also look at fashion trends for both him and her as well as trend forecasts within interior and technology for 2010.

Chloë Sevigny
Through the 2009 blogs worldwide, Chloë Sevigny is said to be the style icon that continues to break records with fashion bloggers each time she shows up on a red carpet. Although not always a good praise, one thing is for sure; Chloë is attracting attention. Not surprisingly, she was on the catwalk for both Prada and Miu Miu Spring Collections 2010.

Lady Gaga
Whether you love or hate Gaga, her crazy style did not pass by unnoticed in 2009. She has been compared to Madonna challenging norms by questioning ideals and opinions. Many talk about the Lady Gaga-effect, i.e. leaving the pants at home and walk out with your bum out in the air which actually were seen at fashion catwalks during the many international fashion weeks.

Alexa Chung
In the UK and Europe, the British TV host Alexa Chung established herself as a fashionista in 2009 with her relaxed style combined with her sweet doll face. This year, Mulberry is said to release a new handbag named after Alexa. Shortly after the images were leaked of her carrying the bag, a huge waiting list now exist for that particular model.

Fashion Trends 2010
In this ever-changing world, it is actually silly to talk about what to wear or not. In the end of the day, it is all about your own personal expression and designer work of craftsmanship, aesthetics, art and beauty. So, this is just some inspiration – don’t loose your soul or style!

Women’s Fashion 2010
For her, we are hoping to see more shoes that you actually can walk in and expect to see more tailored fashion with details of craftsmanship that will make it harder for big chains to copy original designs.

We say goodbye to the rock-chic inspiration by Balmain and let her slip away with the trashed jeans and studded leather as well as the boho-chic. We are instead embracing comfort with softer and feminine silhouettes in natural colours.

Men’s Fashion 2010
For him, we are also envisaging lighter material in relaxed yet tailored style with inspiration from both high end fashion and street fashion. Thanks to bloggers all across the world; everyone’s a style guru these days.

Don’t be afraid to accessorise, guys! Whilst clothing might come in soft pastel colours, we picture colourful accessories in shapes of oversized bags, scarves and even bow ties.

Interior 2010
Authentic sustainable design with lasting quality and value will continue to stay in focus. Hand-crafted luxury, clear aesthetics and robust materials will likely unite to become furniture for generations. We also predict new developments of innovations such as OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) wallpaper and displays to reduce energy consumption by 60% over that used by existing light sources.

We will now await the influential Interior Design Week in Cologne to take place 18 – 24 January 2010 which will cleary present the direction of the furnishing industry as well as new innovations and industrial designs.

In the meantime, Pantone has unveiled Turquoise, Colour 2010.

Technology 2010
The popularity has grown of 3D movies such as Avatar and we think 3D support for TVs will hit homes later in 2010. Blu Ray and gaming consoles will move towards 3D within home entertainment. Digital TV on demand is already common in countries such as the US, and we are now seeing developments take off in Australia which hopefully will push demand for eco-friendly LCD/LED TV screens.

In 2009 we saw the uptake of iPhone increase worldwide and social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter hitting the mainstream plus migrating from computers to mobile phones. The trend will continue with migration to other mediums such as TVs and cameras. We are also curious to see how tech savvy consumers respond to the launch of Google Nexus One mobile phone.

Due to its portability and user-friendliness, we predict a growth of netbook usage with better battery life and more power such as Asus Eee PC Seashell. Last year, we also featured the Kindle but are still waiting for a major uptake of e-books and the Apple iTablet.

Eco-friendly transportation will also continue to be in focus and we hope to discover new ways to get ourselves from A to B.
