White Mountaineering
Over 53 years ago, Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay were the first men to reach the summit of Mount Everest and return to tell their story. They would have had no concept that their garb would be part of the inspiration for Japanese fashion designer Yosuke Aizawa to create his label White Mountaineering.
Unlike many extreme weather apparel brands, White Mountaineering can not only survive high altitude and low temperatures but also the icy gaze of fashion critics.
Each piece combines complex construction techniques and innovative materials that translate into wearable high-end men’s fashion, i.e. not something a scout leader would wear on a camping trip.
The most notable trend being set by White Mountaineering that should land in Australia soon is the use of patterned high socks or wool thermal tights that protrude from under shorts and meet up with high cut street styled hiking boots to create a contrast in colour, texture and silhouette.
It’s time to forget your fixie and start hiking.
