NoKo, Swedish Jeans Made in North Korea
In recent times, Sweden has been a major player in quality jeans wear with brands like Nudie, Acne, Dr. Denim and Cheap Mondays hugging legs around the world and now there is set to be another; NoKo, jeans made in North Korea. NoKo is an international relations project as much as it is a jeans company. The three young Swedish owners desire to make people look fresh but also desire to bring the outside world closer to North Korea.
As for how the jeans look like, no one really knows. NoKo are running with a PR strategy similar to that of Kim Jon Ill’s government by only releasing snippets of positive information to the outside world. You can check out some images of their most recent trip to North Korea at Flickr. Keep in mind how impressive it is to get photos out of North Korea.
NoKo Jeans are set to drop in late 2009. You can pre-order at the NoKo website. Now, I want to know when they will release their collection of Kim Jon Ill inspired leisure suits.

Very clever PR! It’s like selling air really without knowing how the designs look like except that they are Swedish (that always sells!) Is there any more exact release date?

1000 jeans will be available at the end of this summer. Most will be sold online to a small amount of brand fans and supporters around the world.
