Holden Snow Outerwear

Holden Snow Outerwear is the antithesis of the Australian car manufacturer that happens to share the same name; a name that here in Australia is synonymous with mullet haircuts, conventional design and environmental ignorance. Based in Portland (Oregon USA), the home of the famous Burnside skate park, veteran professional snowboarder and co-owner of Holden, Mikey Leblanc and his cohorts have expelled almost every other snow label to become arguably the most stylish outerwear label on the hill. The range of this ski season features all of the usual super features such as venting but it is the incredible handle of Holden’s fabrics; their immaculate attention to detail; and most distinctively, their tailored fit. All this combined makes you look like a local to the mountain, not a giant blob of polyester.

As green (environmentally friendly) is fast becoming the new black in the snow industry it is important to acknowledge Holden’s pioneering attitude that helped create an industry-wide mind shift. Over 3 years ago, Holden co-developed its first ‘eco-friendly’ water resistant hemp fabric for its outerwear; come 2009 and Holden has produced most of their range with ‘eco friendly’ materials. They have even found a way for the factory workers that make their garments to work with less toxic materials such as a fluro-carbon free DWR water resistant fabric coating.

The entire range features an equal amount of items in both men and women fashion which can be viewed at the cool video-based website of Holden Outerwear. Now, fingers crossed that the opening of the Australasian ski season this weekend will picture good snowfall and no fluro one piece suits.
