Gucci x Mark Ronson sneakers
Gucci has approached DJ and producer Mark Ronson to collaborate with Creative Director Frida Giannini on several styles of Gucci Ronsons for the luxury brand’s upcoming ‘Icon-Temporary’ sneakers pop-up stores that will travel to selected world cities. NYC is the first on the list to have a temporary flash shop set up in Soho this October. The Gucci flash store will move from New York to Miami, coinciding with Art Basel Miami Beach, and other cities currently planned include London, Berlin, Paris, Hong Kong, and Tokyo. We hope Sydney gets added to the list!
A new limited edition Gucci Ronson sneaker is said to be introduced at each international destination of the tour. Each collection to have classic Gucci design signatures such as the GG logo plus silver or gold metal dog tags and for extra luxe factor, personal initials can be embossed onto a customised leather tag on the shoe laces. The stores will stock 18 sneaker designs – 16 for men, 2 for women and one unisex pair unique to each city. Three styles of sneakers already previewed include a chukka, a deck shoe, and a more traditional sneaker.

As an avid sneaker collector himself, Mark Ronson will ensure these Gucci shoes are unique both from an aesthetic point of view and a collectable one. He has also requested a musical element to the project by collaborating with artists in making limited edition tracks for each store opening. Each customer will receive a custom 12-inch vinyl record with exclusive tracks produced by Mark Ronson, as a gift with the Gucci Ronson sneaker. Yeah, kick it!
