Andrew McDonald bespoke shoes
The bespoke shoemakers Andrew McDonald’s Spring/Summer 2010/11 range sees reconfigured classic styles with an architectural twist in his ready-to-wear designer footwear for men and women. No doubt this season will follow his previous success as Andrew has had a massive surge in demand after releasing his first RTW collection for Winter 2010, and decided to solidify his move into this category. His Brogues are really gaining street cred with a huge lift in sales and increased interest in shoe-making; his well known shoe making courses are booked up for almost 4 months. Wow!
Renowned for his passionate approach to bespoke shoemaking, Andrew’s design ethos prevails through the range which is distinguished by the use of quality materials such as Cordovan, Horse Front and hand finished Calf leathers. Leathers have been sourced from specialist tanneries whom employ vegetable tanning techniques. These leathers are carefully manipulated in his studio through a variety of staining and hand polishing processes that create depth and textures unique and different for every shoe.
The Oxford, Derby and Foldover styles, carry on through the signature design asymmetry with the addition of detailed heel cut-outs and reverse stitched straps (revealing the inner workings of shoe construction) and rough hewn sole and heel details. Andrew McDonald shoes transcend the season, the antithesis of mass-production with highest quality craftsmanship committed to sustainable design.
