New York based Australian designer Marc Newson’s creations include objects, furniture, interiors and products for the transport industry to timepieces with Ikepod. His latest watch collection Solaris was revealed quietly in December with little information which left an entire niche market intrigued.

We have managed to source some more information but as per usual, the hefty price tag remains and the watches is hard to come across with the limited distribution available. Only around 600 was told to be made of the new watch that features a two-faced ceramic case design with gold mesh bracelet that can be flipped all over. Available in several different materials from 18k yellow or white gold, as well as white and black ceramic with quartz movements.

Newson’s signature designs have always been very contemporary and minimalist with high functionality in mind. With the Ikepod Solaris watches he has changed the direction from a soft futuristic look to a retro chic yet innovative design. We heart the white and black two-tone and the all black model actually reminds us a bit of our own logo… Ha! We doubt that we ever going to get our hands on any of these gems from Ikepod though.
