Cosmetic king Napoleon Perdis is drafting his own influential Code Napoleon, a chain of essential makeup maxims to live by – everything from the importance of priming to the value of self-empowerment and precisely when to apply mascara, distill his beauty philosophy refined over the last 15 years. Perdis not only lives by these rules but shares them with every woman he comes in contact with.

When Perdis launched his cult Auto Pilot Pre-Foundation Primer over seven years ago, he had an inkling it would resonate with women everywhere. “It was a period when primers were not as readily available as they are now,” he says. “But ours has lasted the test of time.” Well, we must agree that the Auto Pilot version is a great canvas for makeup application. It’s lightweight and absorbs quickly, providing a second skin that smoothes the complexion, mattifies the T-zone and ensures makeup staying on. The primer is also loaded with skin-rejuvenating ingredients including Chamomile, Yarrow Extract and Vitamin E.

For a stellar base, Napoleon also provides seven different formulations of liquid, powder or aerosol in an array of shades and finishes. Our fav although a tad pricey is China Doll foundation which offers a velvety matte finish. “Foundation is the one thing women should never skimp on. It’s a makeup must-have. Why? It obscures imperfections, counters discolouration and create a dazzling flawless look”, says Napoleon.
