Zara Women Collection Spring/Summer 2010

The effortlessly chic 2010 Zara Spring/Summer Woman fashion collection has arrived. The designs are suited even for Autumn in the Southern Hemisphere.

The only problem is that we don’t have any Zara stores in Australia although they recently opened one in Shibuya, Tokyo – perhaps the closest one from here. On last trip to the US, we were told by a store manager in LA that due to a monopoly in the Australian market, it is really hard for successful international fashion chains such as Zara and H&M to enter. Humph!

Well, enjoy the photos and video from the making of the lookbook for style inspiration at least.

The natural colour palette of browns, tans and whites gives the entire range a subtle and classic feel. Soft material for skirts, blouses as well as jump suits and dress shorts are giving a very flowing and feminine look. Casual touches of boyfriend shirts, denim shorts are mixed with comfortably fitted jackets. Slightly transparent tops are providing a bit of sensuality yet keeping things very stylish and sophisticated. Also, loving the solid wooden heels and hope that at least this shoe trend, if not the stores, will be arriving to Aussie shores.

For the guys, we have also put up a separate post with photos of 2010 Zara Spring/Summer Man collection. Further below, we have also squeezed in the video in the making of the casual fashion wear range.

Yes, you´re right: A monopoly in the market and the typical “Australian Proud & Owned” slogan make very difficult, or impossible, for international companies to enter in the country… quite sad!

Another factor are logistic problems as ZARA would need at least 25 stores to work properly in Australia. Most of these international companies receive new clothes/accesories every week to have the clients visiting the store more often. A bigger network of shops facilitates the job.

There are a few other ZARA shops “close” to Australia in Singapore, Hong Kong, Philippines,…

How nice would be having ZARA in Australia, some people don´t know what they´re missing!
