Yeojin Bae Hitchcock Blondes Collection, Winter 2009
Melbourne-based Yeojin Bae fired up this season with seductive tailoring and asymmetric style with her collection inspired by the ultimate cool blondes; boasting beauty, brains and a killer wardrobe. Its 40’s noir meets modern day muse with trench coat styling and a dime novel colour palette. Unravelled shapes are expertly tailored. Raw edge silk blouses with dipping necklines are worn boxy and loose. Wool Angora overcoats feature a dramatic bias cut hem and buckled flare sleeve in fawn, black or herringbone. Flame red chiffon falls delicately into an asymmetric wrap skirt with figure hugging stretch leggings bringing the body shapes back.
Waists are buckled in on tailored jackets and ankles are fastened in on suit trousers. Sleeveless detective coats sit open and loose or knotted tight as a coat dress. Bias silk batwing tops contrast stitched-up suiting with their looser silhouette and semi-sheer baby wool tops are used to layer and add warmth.
Sexy cutaways such as an exposed one shoulder knit dresses are balanced with a completely sleeved arm and cowl necklines swing forward in woollen tube dresses. Colours are in porcelain, black, fawn and grey with flashes of colour. Silk cotton shirt dresses wrap the body in flame red or ink static print finished with a double length sash.
Yeojin Bae’s signature designs has become ultra-feminine shapes contrasted with coveted tailored separates. Her collections encompass all a woman needs for her seasonal wardrobe and we look forward to review her Spring/Summer 2009 collection.
