Sosume
Sosume is a new eco-friendly fashion label created through a collaboration between four young designers based in different cities – Alex Trimmer (Melbourne), Wil Fry (Sydney), Paulina Petkoski and Rachel Kozub (New York). The debut collection is a range made from micro modal – a soft, luxurious fabric made from the European Beech tree which only requires a tenth of the water used in cotton production. The range is very transeasonal and sleek – think long line tanks, rompers and harem pants in colour palettes of white, grey and black.
Having social conscience shouldn’t mean sacrificing style and the collective behind Sosume insists on being green has never looked this good. A capsule collection of women’s pieces produced in Melbourne is made from natural and organic fabrics from the most environmentally responsible mills internationally.
Keep an eye on the next season of Sosume, expanding their selection of natural fibres, and the introduction of a modest, carefully crafted mens fashion line. It is inspiring to see collaborations crossing borders – Melbourne – Sydney – NYC – with social awareness, sustainability and creativity in their work.
