RAFW 2010: Camilla Spring/Summer-10
One of the most talked about shows to kick off current Rosemount Australian Fashion Week 2010 is probably the flamboyant designer Camilla Franks. By introducing The Na’vi on stage – a blue race of sentient extraterrestrial humanoids who inhabit the lush jungle moon of Pandora from the 3D movie Avatar – a whimsical and theatrical collection followed on display. Soft-flowing silhouttes of silky and colourful creations, an explosive fresh air of inspiration for Spring/Summer.
To accompany the exotic dresses, strong-printed gowns and caftans, Napoleon Perdis who always is willing to explore the wilder shores of colour was of course behind the make-up.
Head-turning interpretations, the polar opposite of work-appropriate with eyebrows camouflaged and eyes circled in vibrant hues of orange, blue, pink and gothic-inspiredblack for one section. Skin and lips were left bare to point up the exuberant eye statements. In short, out of this world. Images at courtesy of Wendell Teodoro.
