Melbourne-based Halsinky Winter 2010 collection includes quirky, unique dresses in beautiful fabrics for women of all sizes with a sophisticated edge to the designs. Bold, bright colours help accentuate the fabric textures with large knits adding to the style of this winter collection. They prove us there is no wrong wearing socks with high heels and gloves belongs to the winter outfit – soak up inspiration from their lookbook below. The Tour De Force headpieces are extravagant whilst still being wearable – perfect for the upcoming Spring racing season in colours such as apple greens, fuchsia and burnt orange.

Designer sisters Vangelica and Vicki are both passionate about their work and supporting each other with inspiration from their family. The collection began with casual street-inspired pieces and moved onto embracing a modern take on old femininity, staying true to the well-constructed and flattering shapes rather than relying on external trends.

Clearly the sisters not only have style but also savvy business minds; Vicki’s past career includes retail operations with companies including Timberland, Street One and Melbourne Airport and she also owns a wholesale clothing agency as well as a clothing, gift and lifestyle store in Melbourne. Vangelica completed her bachelor degree in Media and Communications at the University of Melbourne, has worked freelance in event management, photo shoots and film production and has directed Halsinky from the beginning.

After wholesaling their collection, the pair knew that the next step would be to make their label available in a retail store. This is named Halsinky Project and is located in Melbourne’s fashionable Brunswick Street in Fitzroy. The sisters look forward to expanding their wholesale to more stores throughout Australia in the coming year.
