Dress, Memory
Lorelei Vashti is connecting the dots between her favourite dresses and some of her most intimate memories on her blog Dress, Memory.
Each Friday for six months, Lorelei is posting a studio portrait of herself, taken by photographer Lee Sandwith, in a dress from her collection alongside a post about the memory each piece stirs. Her writing is beautiful, her memories are deeply personal and often tinged with pain and vulnerability, and the dresses themselves are beautifully photographed.
The topics range from the ethics of wearing fur, to ex-lovers, and tragically losing a family member, and more than one post brings a tear to the eye.
While the blog has been a form of therapy for Lorelei, she hopes it will change the way fashion enthusiasts feel about their clothes. She treats fashion as an emotion rather than an industry and invites readers to share the stories they have attached to their wardrobes. Spend five minutes of your Friday with Lorelei!
