Door 121 Autumn Winter 2011 showroom
When you walk into a room, phased with blue lighting, free cocktails and racks of next year’s designer wear, a positive reaction (including at least a tiny burst of excitement) is bound to come about. Walking into the Door121 showroom with one eye on the sushi and another on the couture I thought, tonight’s gonna be a good night. As I hummed the Black Eyed Peas billboard hit, I began admiring the 15 collections smiling back at me, and as gorgeous as they all were, a few screamed for extra attention…
The ‘Made in The Future’ Winter 2011 collection by Eleventh Commandment; black and gold, black and gold, black and gold ♫. Crazy Cool: the only way to describe this futuristic vintage collection that encourages zebra print, stocks ‘anti-gravity jeans’ and draws inspiration from “Wayne’s World”. The loud fabrics, liquid metal tanks and the cutting edge that is Eleventh Commandment politely asks us to stop, stand back, and let the clothes shout for themselves.
The First Born Autumn Winter collection; quite possibly a wardrobe of exotic knits I could reside and grow old in. This timeless-but-painted-with-a-60’s-pallette collection, each piece hand-crafted by one of 30 knitters, has an amazing energy about it – one you might have only thought to have found no closer than the streets of Buenos Aires. The Australian and socially conscious women’s wear label is actually intended as a reflection “Collas Argenitinos”- an Indian community living in the north of Argentina, an inspiration which has culture marking the excellence of this collection. Bright 60’s colours alongside the greys and blues of a cooler day will urge you to clear out any dated knits and replace them with at least ten handfuls of these crocheted spectaculars. Light and très stylish, check out some of my faves…

And finally, The Twelfth Letter: a name which I’m sure will eventually be packing its bags, jumping a plane to Europe and effectively making its way into local conversation on the streets of Italy and Spain. This collection is 100% unisex. A step forward in style for all you Zara lovers. Affordable. Cultured comfort. Really something else. All I can think of, to do this brand justice, is to show you their video and a few pieces.
