Barbie magic from New York Fashion Week 2009
She is blonde and looks like a doll… oh wait, she is actually a doll! No, not Paris Hilton or Donatella Versace even though they look pretty plastic, we are talking about Barbie. Can you believe this classic bombshell is 50 years old!? To celebrate, models were transformed into walking Barbie dolls organised by Mattel with 50 designers involved such as Alexander Wang, Calvin Klein, Bob Mackie and Diane Von Furstenberg with shoes by Christian Louboutin.
A handsome Ken look-alike was strutting next to Barbie of course and as we keep seeing classic girl toys turn into sexy kittens lately, we are wondering if this trend is a fetish to realise every girl or young men’s fantasy?

Did you see them at the Barbie Turns 50 New York Fashion Show? Those great rhinestone encrusted cateye sunglasses, pink daisy cat eye sunglasses, brass cat ear sunglasses and extravagant jeweled cat woman eye jewellery on Barbie on runway with Naeem Khan, Vena Kava, Vera Wang, Nanette Lepore, Lyn Devon, Tracy Reese, Marchesa and more were
designed and handmade by Sunglasses by
Mercura NYC and chosen for the Barbie Runway 50th anniversary show.
