Eyewear style tips by fashion designer Henry Roth
Practicality aside, the style and shape of your glasses can make a dramatic impact on your
appearance. Re-known for his spec-wearing style as the mentor of Project Runway Australia,
fashion designer Henry Roth is sharing his style secrets, announcing an exciting new association with Specsavers. As new Specsavers Style Ambassador, Henry Roth has put together some style advice explaining how to find the right frames to fit your face shape and personal style.
“As a long time spec-wearer myself, I understand how a pair of frames can dramatically enhance an individual’s look. Glasses are like any other fashion accessory – they can jazz up an old outfit as well as add a little colour and flair to create entirely new looks,” said Henry Roth.
“These days, glasses come in so many different shapes and sizes it can be a bit overwhelming. The secret is finding frames that work for your face shape and enhance your best features. Don’t be afraid to experiment with colour and style – you want your specs to also reflect your personality.”

Here are a few style savvy tips when choosing new eyewear by Henry Roth himself;
• Think of your frames as a fashion accessory – match them with your mood and personal style. You add a burst of colour to a neutral outfit, or transform your wardrobe from day to evening with a change of frames. Accessories, including spectacles, are fantastic for when you need to spruce up your wardrobe for summer, but can’t afford a complete overhaul.
• Be adventurous with your spectacle selection. Choose a classic pair for work, and a more bold design for evenings and weekends.
• The hot trend this summer is experimenting with bright colours, in particular gold and orange hues. Look for rimless glasses with coloured arms or bold frames.
• Specs 2010 to be seen. Spectacles are the must have fashion essential, worn not to blend onto your face, but more as a stand out look.
• Summer 2010, mix it up. Don’t be afraid to mix silver and gold jewellery/accessories – this summer’s all about style with attitude.
• For her, this summer’s look is flirty, feminine with a touch of Euro sexy style. Sexy secretary is in. Pencil skirts, patterned leather belts and high pumps. Look for gold, bright pink and orange accessories, jewellery with bling and rimless spectacles with colourful arms.
• For him, this summer sees the return of the classic nerd – Clark Kent style. Here comes Superman! Clean crisp shirts, tailored suits, preppy jackets and lace-up shoes, teamed up with oversized plastic black or dark rimmed glasses and slicked back hair to complete the look.
• Avant-garde, fashion forward look. Opt for accessories that are bold and dramatic. For a night out, match your little black dress with bright and funky accessories like chandelier earrings, studded cuff bracelets or colourful frames.
• To balance a prominent nose. If you have a long nose, look for glasses with a low set bridge to shorten it. For shorter noses, select a style with a high set bridge in line with the top of the frames.
• To balance a square face. If you have a square face, choose oval frames as they’ll help soften your jaw line.
• If you have a round face, opt for angular or geometric frame style.
