In December 2009, American Apparel asked users at real-people fashion site Lookbook.nu, to submit photos of themselves wearing outfits that incorporate the brand.

From over a thousand entries, a 64-page-lookbook has now been published with 132 looks created by about 77 chosen people from across the world. The book is a pretty stunning example of where fashion, narcissm and consumerism collide! Here is a little sneak peak… (more…)

The effortlessly chic 2010 Zara Spring/Summer Woman fashion collection has arrived. The designs are suited even for Autumn in the Southern Hemisphere.

The only problem is that we don’t have any Zara stores in Australia although they recently opened one in Shibuya, Tokyo – perhaps the closest one from here. On last trip to the US, we were told by a store manager in LA that due to a monopoly in the Australian market, it is really hard for successful international fashion chains such as Zara and H&M to enter. Humph!

It was with great excitement tinged with a little sadness that I approached the Mercedes Benz 2010 Autumn Winter Fashion Week. Excited because New York Fashion Week is one of the greatest fashion experiences that a fashionista can have. Sad because it was the last New York Fashion Week at the tents in Bryant Park. The Spring shows in September will be moved to Lincoln Centre, which I feel will be a great location. Lincoln Centre is the epicentre of arts and culture in New York and moving Fashion Week there will legitimise Fashion. (more…)
