Hi Noah,
Sorry for the late reply - it's crunch time for my exhibition so I've been a bit slow getting back to everyone...
I've been so focused getting the show together that I kind of haven't thought about what's up next! I'm looking forward to having some quiet time after it's over and getting the chance to clean my very messy house!
As for projects, I'm thinking my next personal project might be a year or so off, I have a few random ideas but not sure which one will come together at this stage. Stay tuned to mecho as I'll be sure to post news of the next project when it's underway.
Also I'm thinking of going back to visit Kintore and help out there for a few weeks at the end of the year because I miss it so much!
Hope to see u at the exhibition! Come up and say hi if you do come as I'll be there all week!
Sal :)

Howdy again guys!

Jamez - Yes working on my own stuff is exactly what I've been doing! Shooting personal work is important and almost always pays off in some way!

Lee - My exhibition will be **2ND to 8TH JULY** not 1st to 7th as written in my blog piece. I will try to get this updated. Exhibitions are a lot of hard work and very expensive. I don't expect to make much money (I wouldn't be a photographer if I did) but breaking even would be nice! Each gallery is different so it depends but generally I would say you pay the gallery. I am planning to make the works as affordable as possible so hopefully I will get a few sales! The problem with photography is that it doesn't sell much anyway, well not as much as paintings do. I will have a collection bucket on the opening night and throughout the exhibition for the rehab clinic for those not interested in buying or not able to afford it. Hope to see you there!! Come up and say hi if you do come! Opening night - 2nd July 6-8pm.

Alicia - I use digital mostly as it is cheaper and faster (scanning and spotting negs is such a pain!) but I do prefer film so I sometimes shoot it for personal projects.

Would like to check it out your exhibit too! Have you had many exhibitions before? Also, do you have to pay to exhibit your stuff or do the gallery pay you? Just curious how it all works, I always wonder how they make money as most people just like me just go there to look but not really buying... or is it just me? (D'oh!) As you said, it is GFC!

I like the how some of the proceeds go to charity though... I might chip in for that! ;)

Why really? Well see it like this, you have more time to do more of what you want now oppose to what you had to do when working full-time and build up your portfolio until economy picks up again!

Thank you guys so much!!
It's so nice to read such awesome comments!!

Lulu - I am in a sudden panic about my exhibition as it is only a month away now!! Hopefully it will be ready in time! Watch this space, I will put up more details about it as they come to hand!

Mia - Yes, I know fashion shoots and Aboriginal communities are a world apart but it's the only way I stay sane!! I do love working on fashion shoots but I don't know how most people can just do that their whole career - it would seriously do my head in!! I went to Kintore to visit a friend who had been working out there with Aboriginal kids for 2 years. I never expected to take any good photos - let alone have the published and exhibited! It has been a nice surprise to have them so well recieved, especially amongst the fashion community, but I think that proves there is more substance to the industry than is otherwise perceived. What's next?? I have a few crazy ideas...

Jamez - I was doing photography full-time until a little thing known as the GFC came along and robbed us photographers of all our good paid work!! :(

Amelia - Paparazzi annoy the crap out of me!! NEVER will I turn to the dark side!!! hahaha :)

sydneyChick - Thanks for the nice comments!! It things like that that keep me motivated everyday. It's a hard slog and so easy to want to give it all up but when I do, I just think of all the nice things people have said to me! Thank you!!
