Hello Jenn! Nice work, I definately agree charities should collaborate more and stop seeing each other as competitors. A question I have is however regarding smaller charities, less reknown as WWF and Earth Hour. I am a natural giver and have trouble saying no when approached but how do I avoid being frauded, are there any guidelines to spot if a charity asking for donations is genuine? Any advice is appreciated!

Hi Kelly,

Yes, definitely great having a job with some great end goals.
It didn't take too long to make a transition - I was committed to making a change and just went to for it.
I volunteered my time in South America and in Borneo and provide my services pro-bono, whilst learning conservation.

I have done a lot of work for the Borneo Orangutan Survival foundation. I think more charities need to collaborate and work together towards the same end goal.

Thanks for you message.
Jungle Jenn!!

Hi Jennifer,

It must be great having such purpose-filled job - how long did it take for you from jumping from corporate life to finding your calling? Do you support other charities also?

I agree every bits helps! :)

Hi Mike,

Thanks for your message.
Earth Hour in Australia this year was a huge success. It's very hard to say whether or not we have the same level of participation as registration numbers don't necessary match to actual involvement and participation of "Lights Out". Our campaign message this year of "Earth Hour, Every Hour" and encouraging everyone to make a switch (pardon the pun!!) to a sustainable lifestyle - was a big pull factor.

Earth Hour is evolving into so much more than the symbolic statement of Lights Out and we need to really reinfoce amongst the Australian community, that we can ALL do something each and everyday to ensure we live a more sustainable life. Whether that is reducing our energy and water consumption or something as simple as not using plastic bags when we go shopping, riding or walking to work or even just using a re-usable mug when we grab a latte from our favourite cafe. Every bit helps.

Keep on Truckin' yourself.

Regards,
Jennifer

Hi Jenn,

Heard less participants in this year's Earth Hour in Australia - is this correct? Is it becoming a fad and what do you have install for people to switch off not only for one night once a year? Pretty cool this Aussie idea taking over worldwide though and good statement but probably time for some more plans...

Keep trucking!
